TD Ameritrade Park, Home Of The College World Series
This baseball park is the classic, If you build it, they will come, field of dreams, at least until 2035 so says the contract with the NCAA for the College World Series. TD Ameritrade Park, also known as "The Trade," is the home for not only the College World Series, but also the Creighton University baseball team and it also hosts the Missouri Valley Conference yearly baseball tourney. The Gamecocks of South Carolina secured the first CWS win in the park as well as the last win in Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium. However the first win for any team in the stadium was Nebraska Cornhuskers defeating the Creighton Bluejays by a score of 2-1. The opening game was attended by more than 22,000 people and was the most attended game of the regular collegiate season in 2011.
TD Ameritrade Park was opened by the CEO of Ameritrade on April 19 and almost exactly two months later the ceremonial first pitch of the College World Series was thrown by Former President George W. Bush. The UFL has opened their season in the new stadium as well. Since 2011, the Omaha Nighthawks, will play their home games here. The UFL is the brainchild of former NFL coaching legend Bill Walsh and Bill Hambrecht. The current configuration for TD Ameritrade Park allows for upwards of 35,000 spectators and is one of the few parks to turn a profit in its first year. This has allowed the park to continue to grow and have other major college conferences and professional baseball teams to express interest in a partnership.
