Setting Your Sights on the Stage
Live theatre was once the pinnacle of entertainment. Not
that long ago, there was no such things as movies or radio. A long time ago,
books were very expensive or the people were largely illiterate. From the
highest ranked royalty, to the poorest peasant farmer, being able to see a live
performance was a treat and an important part of the culture. While theater
shows are no longer the only form of mass entertainment available, going to one
is still one of the best ways to spend an evening.
The Classics are Still Relevant
If you had to study Shakespeare in high school and hated every minute of it, you may be disinclined to seek out a classic play or performance. What you may not have realized in your high school days is that plays are not meant to be read, they are meant to be performed. Seeing old Greek tragedies, Shakespearian comedies, or classic Operas may seem like yesterday’s news, but many of these theater shows are still relevant to today’s issues. Performed by professionals, they come to life and are funny, tragic, and beautiful still today.
Musical Theatre
While some people may find it odd to watch people burst into song, musical theater shows are some of the most beloved and long running shows in the modern age of theater. The stage adaptation of Les Miserable was written in 1980, but it still meets with high acclaim all across the country today. Every year, Broadway musicals are presented to the public and then sent on tours around the country. Going to one of these shows can be the beginning of an exciting evening on the town, or it can be the basis of a family outing.
You can find tickets to shows in your area or for large performance halls around the country online. If you have a favorite theater show you would like to see, or want to see the show that everyone is talking about, check out your favorite online ticket vendor for info.
